Danny Young is aggrieved that Tiwa Savage used a part of his song, “Oju Ti Tiwon” without permission. Tiwa Savage had allegedly used part of the song in her own new single, “One”.
The singer express his grievance via a video published on his Instagram page around 7pm today. Danny Young said he never imagined he would be a victim of intellectual property theft.
The offending line was where Tiwa Savage sang “Odo dun lan rorogbo, Odo dun lan ri awusa, ododun lan romobi lori igba my life don better.”
Danny Young sang the exact line in the second verse of his 2009 single, “Oju Ti Tiwon”. The song was off the album, Crossover.
The particular song was famous around Nigeria in 2009. Young said his fans called his attention to the alleged theft.
“I’ve been getting a lot of messages from fans here and there,” Danny Young said in one of the videos.
“They’re trying to bring my attention to a content going on online. I think saying Tiwa Savage stole a verse in my 2009 single titled Oju Ti Tiwon. Actually, I listened to the song today because I never had the time to listen to it. But when I did, I became so disappointed.
“I mean, for an international artist like Tiwa Savage to go ahead and use my content without my proper approval or right to use my lyrics: it’s a total disrespect. And I won’t take this from anyone. I respect all my colleagues, especially the female ones, but I wouldn’t take this from anyone.”
Danny Young stated that Tiwa Savage could have done better. He added that the “Lova Lova” singer was one of his favourite female artists.
Meanwhile, there no response yet from Tiwa Savage’s camp as at the time of writing this report.
