CDQ has explained his decision to feature several artists on his new project, Ibile Mugabe. The album was released Friday 16th of November and it featured some of the biggest industry names.
Some of the artists on the project include Tiwa Savage, Davido, Wizkid, Patoranking, Phyno, Kizz Daniel, Reminisce and others.
The Woss! spitter told Koffee Gang on Hot FM that he did not feature various artists to appeal to broader audience. He said he would not work with the artists if he didn’t feel any chemistry with them.
“I do features based on chemistry between me and the artist,” CDQ said.
“I don’t do features because I want it to go round; diaspora, I mean. One of my biggest songs so far right now, ‘Sai Baba’: I’m very sure a lot of people that danced to the song don’t even understand the lyrics.”
The artist said music is universal and as such it’s easier for the audience to enjoy without understanding the lyrics.
“Music is a universal language. It’s about the sound. When you hear Flex, for example, you know ‘this is house music’ so you just have to move to it.”
Ibile Mugabe is CDQ’s second album since the release of Quality back in 2016. The artist has earned a good place for himself with the Nigerian music audience.
Some of his most acclaimed works include: “Woss!”, “Sai Baba” and “Nowo E Soke”.
