Adekunle Gold recently released his sophomore album, About 30 days ago. On the album, there is the song “Fame” where he sang about his depression. The singer has now said he felt he has remained in the same place.
Gold explained in a detailed mail message received by Filterfree that he has doubts in his own ability as an artist.
“I’ve also struggled deeply with my artistic confidence,” Adekunle Gold wrote in the mail.
The singer said he could have done so much with his talent. However, his rise to stardom has created a dissenting voice which was trying to hold him back.
Gold stated that he is in fact disregarding the voice and making advancements to his person.
“There are many ways I want to express my talents but there’s a small choir in my head that sings ‘don’t change’, and I am in fact changing.”
Adekunle Gold noted that his music has become an outlet to overcome his depressive moments, as much as it is also his cashcow.
“There is a light at the end of that dark tunnel, believe it or not, music is as much my medicine as it is my business.”
“Fame” was co-written by talented 19-year old singer, Efe Oraka, and it is arguably the most personal song on About 30.
