Nigerians are always in a hurry but never on time, that’s the reason why so many of us treat the red light at junctions like suggestions rather than an actual command: stop, maybe? But if we stop for what is often a maximum of 120 seconds, we just might be able to do something productive. That’s exactly what Shanpepe did, the R&B/soul singer got the inspiration for her latest single “The Red Light” when waiting for a traffic light to turn green. She then rushed home to finish the love song, listen to “The Red Light” below:

I’m at this red light
You’re all that’s on my mind
And I can’t explain why
But it gives me butterflies

We recently interviewed Shanpepe, read more about her here. The singer is also celebrating her birthday today, so the song was released to celebrate and give thanks.
