Many people want Davido to fail. It is like a hidden part of their hearts is dedicated as a home for that feeling. But in this life, it is what people do that matters — not what they say they’ll do.

If anything, Davido has refused to give people the joy of watching his career nosedive. Instead, he keeps making it difficult for people to come out to say they hate him with their chest.

So, what kind of king do you want to stan?

The artist is behemoth. He is the one half of what Nigerian music pundits refer to as the industry “duopoly”. He has held it down since he broke out in 2010.

It’s not hard to see why Davido is still at the forefront of the Nigerian music industry. He’s not unwilling to share power. When he appears on songs, instead of using sheer star power as a positioning, he let his musical ability do the work.

This is evident in Victor AD’s “Tire You” and most of the songs he did along-with his DMW cohorts.

Davido and Chris Brown:

Now, the singer has done the same on a song he calls “Blow My Mind”, which features US superstar, Chris Brown.

Davido finds himself at home on the lively tune Shizzi renders. “Blow My Mind” on first listen immediately strikes home as one of the singer’s best international collaborations ever, if not the best.

Chris Brown adds a RnB/pop stance to the music which is already a potpourri of Afrobeats, Pon Pon, and contemporary pop music. The delightful vocals of Breezy on the following verse makes it difficult to move on from this song.

“I want to do you however you want, Freaky, freaky for you, Show me what you’re into, Ooh, girl, you just dey blow my mind,” Chris Brown sings on “Blow My Mind”.

This song may end up being Davido’s final cross over to the mainstream of US market, a scene he has long eyed and is actively probing.
