The British producer duo Star.One have just released a collaboration with UK-based, Neo-Africa sound merchant Maleek Berry and Seyi Shay, an ex-member of the UK girl band Boadicea. The result is a perfect hybrid of UK garage and Afropop that they’ve titled “Okay” and gifted to DJ’s in both countries.
Seyi handles chorus duties with consummate ease:
Till the morning
When the DJ drops that tune – no warning, no dulling
I’ll be up all night, no sleep, i’m on it – no yawning
Till the morning, morning, morning
The singer then asks if it’s okay if the DJ keeps going, while Maleek responds with an okay that signals they’ll be partying even past the small hours of the morning. Dope. This one is definitely a party-starter for the summer.
