D’Prince has come a long way from an unsteady MC still finding his way on the Curriculum Vitae group album to a bonafide hit maker. He had a blazing 4-5 year run from 2009 with back to back smashes from “Omoba” to “Jonzing World” and “Give it to Me” and “Goody Bag” . If Mo Hits was giving away “Most Improved” prizes to its artists back then, D’Prince would be a strong contender.

His debut album Frenzy was released under the Mavins umbrella and while the talented artist has remained there or thereabouts on the charts since then, he has become something of a forgotten man at Mavins – much of his recent successes seem to have happened in spite of his affiliation to the group, not because of it.

Omoba and his boss/brother have just released a song titled “Worldwide” which serves as a follow-up to “Show me”. D’Prince documents his plans to take things one  step further and speaks world domination into existence.

The song was premiered at Escape club last night but worryingly, “Show me” was just released last month. I wonder if Mavins have given up on promoting the Small Doctor-assisted single – it’s currently nowhere on the PlayData charts.

D’Prince reconnects with his rap roots on this record. Well, not really – with the bounce and blaring horns, this song is meant for the shuffle on the dance floor, not the hip-hop shuffle on your iPod. If you don’t like the record, D’Prince has a few choice words for you.

F*** y’all haters, mehn I don try /

Right about now, I’m going worldwide /

I guess that means he has a few choice words for me then, but I’ll be patient with the record and give it time to grow on me.  Let’s see if Mavins is also patient with “Worldwide” and give it time to grow on the people before moving on to something else.
