Adekunle Gold has a warning for some people. This message is addressed to no one in particular. His new song “Kelegbe Megbe” is the avenue to get that message across.

Does Adekunle Gold have the mouth to talk like this?

“Kelegbe Megbe” is coming after the well-received “Before You Wake Up”. This song literally means “know your mate”. The intention is clear enough.

This singer sure knows what he is saying. If he demanded respect, it’s only appropriate that he be given that. In fact, his name should never be soiled and if, by some unfortunate cause it had to, it should only be small soil that can be washed off with a decent detergent.

Adekunle Gold released his debut album Gold in 2015 and since then, he’s continued to show why he’s successful in the first place.

The singer left his former label YBNL to pursue an indie career — of course, maybe one not devoid of backing from some patrons. Despite this, he’s still going strong.

His discography presently stands at two including his 2018 release, About 30; a project that got mixed reactions from listeners. Sometime this year, he’s expected to drop another album. However, not much detail is known about the album yet.

Adekunle Gold has walked the talk. Even before the release of “Kelegbe Megbe”, the singer had released “Promise” and the remix of “Before You Wake Up” with Vanessa Mdee.

The singer going on to sing “Ogogoro no be vodka” might appear to accentuate his message. But there’s too much cheese in there. It comes off as if the singer, after writing a few lines, said to himself “at least they get it.”

You may feel like Adekunle Gold’s doesn’t communicate his intentions in strong(er) terms, as it should’ve. However, what you can’t deny is the fact that on “Kelegbe Megbe”, Adekunle Gold knows what he’s saying.

So, let everybody know their mate.
