How we check phone prices

filterfree.ng is independent. We don't sell phones, and retailers can't pay to change a price or a ranking. This page explains exactly how every price on the site is produced.

1. We read public retailer listings every week

Once a week our price checker visits Nigerian phone retailers and marketplaces and reads the price, the storage variant, the condition (new or UK used) and whether the item is in stock. It only visits pages that the retailer's robots.txt allows, identifies itself clearly, and waits between requests so it never slows a shop down.

2. Each listing has to match the exact phone

A listing only counts if its title matches the exact model and variant. Accessories, cases, screen guards and different versions (Pro, Plus, 5G, and so on) are excluded. UK used, pre-owned and refurbished listings are kept separate from new ones.

3. Prices that look wrong are held back

If a price is far outside the normal range for that phone, or jumps sharply with only one shop reporting it, we don't publish it until another check confirms it. We never fill a gap with an estimate: if we can't find a current price, the page says when it was last seen.

4. We show a range, not one number

The same phone can cost very different amounts at different sellers. We show the lowest and highest price we found, who has it in stock, and a fair-price range based on the in-stock listings. Marketplace sellers often charge more than shops, especially when a model is running out.

5. We keep every check

Every weekly check is saved, which is how the price history charts and the monthly price report are built. Launch prices come from brand announcements or reports at the time of launch.

6. Specs and images come from the brands

Specs are taken from each manufacturer's official product pages, cross-checked where a page is incomplete. Product images are the manufacturers' official renders, credited under each photo.

7. New phones are added as they reach the shops

When a phone we don't track yet appears at two or more Nigerian shops, we research its specs from the manufacturer and other reliable sources, check them, and add it with the prices we found. Phones whose specs can't be confirmed wait until they can.
