The quality of the music coming out from Steve Babaeko’s X3M Music over the past couple of years has been nothing short of exceptional. Spearheaded by Praiz, and now Simi, the label has a lean but extremely talented roster that also includes the talented rapper D-Truce and an upcoming singer called Sammy.

Simi has been the belle of the ball lately, there has been a lot of excitement around the songbird’s music and there’s no telling how far she can go, but Praiz’ most recent efforts have been remarkable too, for very different artistic reasons. The singer’s versatility is truly something to behold, you know those people that they say can do whatever they set their mind to? Praiz is one of them.

So whereas “Body Hot” is a purpose-built party record suitable for all types of clubs, “69” is a lust-fest that anyone born before the year 2000 doesn’t need to hear, while “Remember” is a brilliant, more mature film score for the upcoming Nollywood movie “Lotanna”.

The singer’s fourth is even more impressive, “Folashade” is a touching R&B tune where Praiz gets vulnerable about a love that’s slipping away like sand.

Read the explosive exchange between Praiz and his wantaway girlfriend below.

Ghen Ghen!

Who is she to you?

It’s all over – don’t cry, don’t beg

It doesn’t look good for Praiz at all. Interestingly, he claims this song is from a personal experience; if that’s true, then it looks even worse. Women say it’s sexy when their man sounds this vulnerable but men also don’t have to be caught in a lie before they show this side.

Infidelity remains the leading cause of breakups in relationships, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says that 2 in 3 relationships die this way. Okay, that’s a Trumped up stat a.k.a alternative fact but the truth is that infidelity remains very high on the list of deal breakers for a lot of people, not just women. Folashade’s behavior is therefore one that a lot of us can relate with and Praiz’ remorse as well, that’s a place a lot of us have been.

So what do yo you think? Should Folashade should open up her heart once again and take a repentant Praiz back?

My days are years if you walk away,
I will cry cos I’m not ashamed
If you say goodbye, girl I’m gonna break

“Folashade” is in the same Remorse & Blues sub-genre as the likes of Styl Plus‘ “Olufunmi” and  Clench’s “Mase Binu Simi”, Praiz’ new record has the potential to be a timeless classic like those songs were, in just 1 week, “Folashade” is already a top 10 record in the country – remarkable for an R&B song. His primary genre is R&B/soul and over time, the X3M artist has been able to create love songs that are true to his own flavor and shed the worrisome ‘Nigerian John Legend’ tag. From “Body Hot”, “69”, “Remember” and now “Folashade’, the Project Fame alumni continues to show his musical diversity and prove that he is more than just the R&B guy.

The singer’s debut album Rich and Famous was a double CD and that amount of disk space allowed the singer show some of that diversity. His sophomore album is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2017 and will include more diverse sounds from the one and only Praiz Adejo.
