The first episode of The Juice Season 3 is here and rapper FalztheBahdGuy was the first to seat on new host Dorcas Shola Fapson’s couch.
Dorcas made Falz do something that the spontaneous entertainer rarely does when there’s a camera in front of him and that’s go silent.
It started around the 10:26 mark when Dorcas asked Falz if his song “Time Difference” was about him. “Time Difference” is a song on Falz’ second album Stories that Touch that talks about the struggles of maintaining a long distance relationship, but Falz disclosed that the song wasn’t entirely autobiographical.
Falz –
It was somehow personal, maybe I’ll say like half personal. So maybe the first verse was personal but then the second verse was general.
Verse 1
“I dey for Lag but my shorty dey for Yankee /
Only the time she’s on holiday we can see /
How many babes want a celebrity like me? /
Got me thinking that I should change to Plan B /
But even sef, wetin be guarantee /
Say she no follow oyinbo or maybe Shiny (Chinese)? /
I don’t know mehn, now we are fighting /
It’s driving me crazy like a Lagos taxi /”
(She Facetime me, at times we are Skyping /
And then phone sex when I’m tired of typing /
But even then cyber love lo wa je /
How I wish i can teleport over there /) x 2
You say you dey for class ba, will you call me back sha ?/
30 minutes after, I still need to ask her /
Awon ladies ya pa, ti won ni ki n wa gba /
Ohun lo n je ki n hyperventilate mi o ni asthma /
But flashback eleyi ti a se gan yi pass mad /
Oye ko dupe gan wi pe mi o n se bi bastard /
Hope you got the message and the money that I transferred /
That is a sign out, this is the last card.”
Dorcas zoomed in on the line about phone sex and asked Falz point blank if it’s something he’s engaged in in the past. Falz tried to unlook as much as possible, like there was someone else being interviewed.
After processing the question for a few seconds, Falz managed to muster a response in his signature quasi-Ibadan accent –
Phone sex, it’s something that everybody does, you understand? We do do it.
Before deflecting the question entirely by joking that he and Dorcas had engaged in a bit of cellular coitus themselves.
If Dorcas can make every guest on her couch uncomfortable yet make them feel so comfortable at the same time, we think we like her already.
