Bad belle to Nigerians, Matiasma to Greek folks, the belief that you can bring someone down by wishing them harm is a powerful one. In many cultures in the world it’s manifested in the glare of an Evil Eye from ill-wishers, in Nigerian music, it’s often someone with an opinion that an artist doesn’t agree with.

4 artists contributed to Boogey’s new song “Matiasma” in different ways. Filter Free favorite Odunsi produced the record, rapper-turned-producer-turned-videographer-turned-photographer Beazy directed the video, Danny Gomez provided the chorus, while Boogey, of course, provided the bars!

Show ’em that demons don’t always have horns /
And dress in that devil Prada black /
Everywhere they go, they always remember /
To carry hate, contempt jealousy and envy /
When they start to pack, fuck boy starter pack /

The talent wordsmith is blazing on the track, he raps about people trying to bring him down and how he is determined to overcome them and their evil intentions. The song samples American rapper and poet Saul William’s “Twice for the First Time”.

“Matiasma” was lifted from Boogey’s Incognito mixtape released in the third quarter of the year and should breathe new light into the project.
