Eugene Wilde’s evergreen “Gotta Get You Home Tonight” has been sampled 1,000 time, Mo’ Cheddah makes that number 1,001.

Mo’s remake is more up tempo, uses heavier drums and borrows none of the words of the original ballad released in ’84. So rather than wanting a nighttime love, the former Knighthouse signee wants a lifetime love. But don’t get it twisted, Mo’Cheddah might have been a young’n when we first got introduced to her as part of Knighthouse but she is grown woman now. “Let me love you” has a few naughty lines, some of which we kinda have heard somewhere before.

At least she pidginized the angle and gave us a Yoruba-sung chorus. Backed by production from Mosa, Mo’Chedda delivered a rousing vocal performance to let us know that even though she has a tendency to dip in and out, she still has what it takes to deliver great music. But I’ll be surprised if she promotes this as her next single, it sounds a lot less experimental than her last, the Cobham’s produced pop rock number “Survive”, but experimental all the same.

It’s obvious that the singer has evolved musically from her debut project from 6 years ago but until she drops another full body of work, no one will know quite where Mo’ Cheddah is musically.

Listen above.
