Lil Kesh who recently floated his own record label YAGI was the latest guest on Rubbing Minds hosted by Ebuka Obi Uchendu. He delved into the intricacies of the music industry and how you can’t really trust people to have your back.
He also expressed his pleasure at the amazing things currently being done by Wizkid and Davido and how they’re shining the spotlight on Nigerian music.
When asked if there’s anyone he’s often pitted against in the industry based on the outcome of the last Headies award, he said:
Apart from the category, it is Kiss Daniel but i think it’s a normal thing done to everyone.
It’s been done to Olamide who was pitted against Reminisce but what people don’t realize is we’ve all got our fans and one doesn’t affect the other.”
When further asked if he felt he should have won the award in the Next Rated category that went to Reekado Banks, he said:
I am way above all that, it doesn’t even cross my mind. At this point, i don’t even think about it anymore. I was disappointed because i had high hopes but I’m over it now.
But losing the award made me concentrate harder on my album so something good came out of losing
He added that there’s politics in music all over the world and he would never play politics or even make any call to ensure that he gets any award he’s nominated for.
