Music fans across Nigeria may not hear from Tekno again until sometime next year. The singer has reportedly damaged his “vocal box”.
The news was announced by the singer’s management yesterday on Instagram. The statement posted by @pauloo2104 confirmed the damage was why Tekno has not performed in a while.
Recall that Tekno had himself wrote on Instagram that he was ill at a point. The illness caused him to be out for over a month.
However, the singer’s management said he thought the illness was trivial until it became aggravated.
“He had tried to downplay the severity of his ailment hoping it’ll be short-lived,” the statement said.
“But after further diagnosis, doctors have advised that he takes time out to fully recover. His vocal box is temporarily damaged due to strain from overtime performances and cannot sing or perform for a while.”
Tekno’s expected recovery period has not been explicitly stated. But his management has called on fans to pray for his quick recovery.
“Please put Tekno in your prayers. Nevertheless, he also wants to reassure his fans that they have nothing to worry about. He has put in so much work so a lot of music will be released during this period. Please send love & positive vibration to his way. This is a hard time for him.”
Before now, Tekno has put out some impressive jams. His songs, “Pana”, “Go”, “Duro”, “Rara” and a host of others ruled the airwaves and dance clubs.
