Nigeria’s Sir Victor Uwaifo has been awarded with a Living Human Treasure Award by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Sir Uwaifo will feature at a tour exhibition, symposium and music performance in some states in Nigeria, France, Ghana, United Kingdom, United States, the Caribbean and South Africa to commemorate this.

The ”Joromi” crooner is finally being celebrated by the world for his contributions music wise  to Nigeria, Africa and the world. The France leg of the tour will hold in October to coincide with the commemoration of the Nigerian Cultural Heritage Week, in collaboration with the Nigeria Embassy in Paris.

Sir Victor Uwaifo is considered an inventor of the double neck “magic guitar” with 18 strings. His dexterity includes the saxophone, electric guitar, electric piano, flute, and vocals as well as sculpting.

The Federal Government of Nigeria awarded him the national honor, Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) in 1983 making him the first professional musician to be awarded with such.
