It’s a sad day for the music industry as Rhythm FM‘s DJ Midas has passed on. The DJ whose real name is Michael Adefoyin died yesterday after battling a brief illness. He was aged 45.
DJ Midas has been with Rhythm FM since 1998 and is regarded as one of the first recognized DJs in the country. His employer Silverbird Entertainment confirmed the death and released a statement on the official website. The statement reads:
“We are sad to announce the passing away of a friend, former colleague and one of the baddest DJs in Nigeria, Michael Adedoyin aka DJ Midas,” the statement reads.
“DJ Midas as he is fondly called by his fans and loved ones was one of the pioneers of Disc jockeying in Nigeria. He was adored by many due to his jovial nature as well as his skills on the turntable.
“After working for many years at Silverbird’s Rhythm 93.7FM, he went on to continue his career as a DJ, still delivering top notch entertainment to his many adoring fans. Our prayers are with his family at this time even as they mourn his death.”
