Following several allegations of mass rape at the Flavour of Africa music concert, the Enugu State Police Command has denied the occurrence of such.

A press release by the command signed by its public relations officer, Ebere Amaraizu, said no one has reported any rape incident.

Amaraizu described several reports alleging mass rape at the concert venue (Michael Opara Stadium, Enugu) as “unfounded”.

“The newspaper report (of the mass rape), which is based on a twitter message in the social media, is unfounded and we cannot operate on speculations as a law enforcement agency.”

“Till now, nobody has come forward to report any case of sexual assault or molestation and rape to the Command.”

“There is no reported case of rape (from the musical concert) anywhere in the Enugu State Police Command.”

The police said anyone who has been assaulted (or raped) at the event should speak up as they are ready to bring the culprits to book if found guilty.
