Afrohouse singer, Niniola, has revealed that during her earlier years of making music she did not think much on the role gender in getting her music played.
The singer said in an interview with Planet TV that it was because of her disregard for gender that she completely focused on making music that can be played anywhere.
“Coming into the industry I didn’t think of gender. I didn’t think of female-male, I just thought of making music.” She said.
Niniola explained that she was aware that people thought most female musicians had to go through a lot to get their songs played, but because of her focus on making music she scaled that barrier.
“I remember when people were telling me then that most girls don’t have their songs played in the clubs or that some guys: People have their own reservations.”
She said her response then was to make them understand that “I’m coming here to do good music and it’s good music; I don’t care about any classification or boxing myself or be anyway.”
Niniola reiterated that she created her own style of music which everyone can reckon, adding that she was proud of her own achievements.
