Musician, Skales has always been object of sometimes unfair industry joke. But when an interviewer with TheNetNg showed “disrespect” he chose to walk out on the interviewer. Nigerian music fans are strongly in support of Skales on his decision to call the interview off, mid-way.
In what was supposed to be an interview session, TheNetNg interviewer, Victor Okpala had stated that Skales’ 2017 single, “Booty Language” wasn’t genius. However, Skales responded that it was the host’s opinion and it did not reflect the opinion the listening audience held of the song. Yet, the host continued to insist that he didn’t think “the song is genius”.
“You took it far by saying the song isn’t genius.” Skales told the interviewer in the video.
“I don’t think it’s genius for real.” The interviewer pressed on.
Skales then pointed out that it was disingenuous for the interviewer to express that opinion in “a show that’s supposed to be an interview.”
At this point, Skales told the host that he could no longer continue with the interview.
“You don’t want to have an honest conversation [about your song]” the interviewer then offered in a bid to get Skales to stay. But he left anyways.
Skales also asked TheNetNg not to release the video. They did anyways and it is now the centre of attention in the Nigerian music discourse today.
The conversation became a drag. So Skales reached a breaking point and walked away.

The video has generated several reactions on Twitter, making Skales the number four most discussed topic on the Nigerian Twitter trend list with over 1250 tweets.
A tweep, Bhadmus Hakeem said the video was calculated to “rubbish” Skales’ music.
“You can’t rubbish a man’s hustle in an interview like this & expect him not to walk away. Victor Okpala should have received one hot slap from Skales before leaving that studio.”
See ehn, you cant rubbish a man's hustle in an interview like this & expect him not to walk away. Victor Okpala should have received one hot slap from Skales before leaving that studio. Not all publicity is good publicity. Putting this video out is the height of insensitivity. pic.twitter.com/uAqcn9tPIq

Another tweep, Cere Cardoso thought Skales’ should have left the interview earlier than he did.
“This is, frankly, silly and disrespectful. Skales should have walked away sooner. Y’all think you can just pick on him like this. BS. Your organization should be ashamed for encouraging this nonsense.”
