Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) are asking Falz to take down his video, “This Is Nigeria”. But Falz and his management are not having any of that, at least for now.
The group made the call in a statement signed today by its director, Ishaq Akintola following what he called, as portrayed in the video, an “assault on the dignity of every Muslim”. According to a Pulse report Falz’s team are yet to get official letter from the group.
The manager of the artist, Femisoro Ajayi said he has only seen the statement online. The manager stated categorically that they have no plan to take down the video which has been watched over 3 million times on YouTube.
“The video is out there and we have no plans to take it down, we will only respond when we get an official letter directly sent to us.”
However, MURIC has issued a 7-day ultimatum for Falz’s management to take down the video. It said Falz and his team should watch out for a legal action, if they do not take down the video.
“We, therefore give notice of impending legal action against the artist behind the ‘Shaku Shaku’ video unless the latter is withdrawn and an apology is widely published within seven days.”
The Concern said Falz’s video has the potential to incite religious crisis of “unprecedented dimension”. It also described the video of “This Is Nigeria” as an “Hate video”.
The group also questioned the role of the Nigerian Film & Censors Board (NFCB) for allowing such videos be made.
