We are getting a clearer picture of why Wizkid’s scheduled performance at Alicia Key’s charity event last year didn’t materialize.

In an interview with Factory78, entertainment entrepreneur and PR guru Karen Civil talked about not getting the chance to see the Nigerian pop star at the event last year.

I was actually going to see him perform for the first time, he was supposed to do an Alicia Keys charity event and he missed his flight or something. I don’t know what the word is – they said you wouldn’t get on your flight. I don’t know, I don’t want to say that’s true or not.

Karen expressed her disappointment, as she was particularly interested in watching the much talked-about Afro-pop singer in action.

According to her –

I was excited because I wanted to see (him)…  Because everyone was talking about him that night, like what it was going to be, what the performance was.

Wizkid was one of the acts initially scheduled to perform at the 12th edition of the Keep a Child Alive annual black ball. The event held in New York on November 5, 2015 and was hosted by Alicia Keys and Chris Rock. Other acts that were scheduled to perform include US group Lion Babe, Alicia Key’s husband Swizz Beatz and Alicia herself.

However, that line up was later modified and Filter Free has been made to understand that there was “a breakdown” in communication between event organizers and Wizkid.
