Just about a week ago, someone asked where is Cynthia Morgan? The popular dancehall singer has been off the radar since 2017 when she last dropped a single. This weekend, Punch reported that the singer is owing her landlord a fee of around ₦1.3 million.
The landlord of the said apartment which is located in Omole Estate in Lagos has already dragged the singer to court. The suit was filed following the singer’s alleged refusal to pay her rent.
Punch reported that Morgan has already been served a quit notice. The singer had reportedly elapsed the six months grace period required by law. However, the grace period was extended following a plea by her brother (whose name was not given).
“Cynthia Morgan decided at a point that she was going to be recording in her room. When the noise was too much, the owner of the house had to talk to her about it. She has been given quit notice.”
“The six months grace period is up and she was meant to have moved out last month. She is flat broke. They have been pleading that they don’t have anywhere to move to neither can they come up with the rent.”
Cynthia Morgan was also reportedly served court papers for tax evasion. She owed ₦3.5m in tax, the report claimed.
Morgan’s representatives have so far refuted the claim. A representative identified simply as “Maze” said the report that Cynthia Morgan owed her landlord was false. Maze explained that he was not aware of any of the claims in the report.
“I do not know of anything like that and I would say that it is a lie. I do not know about any court papers, so I would say that it is a lie. To the best of my knowledge, I am not aware that she owes her landlord any money.”
“I believe that if they claim she smokes, entertains strange guests and leaves the gate open at odd hours, they should have proof. In my book, none of this statement is factual. I don’t know about these details and I would say that it is a lie.”
As at this time, Cynthia Morgan and her representatives are yet to issue an official statement on the report.
