Burna Boy is the biggest Nigerian artist this year and that’s not even arguable. What makes this claim stronger is that he’s claimed this status since 2018. If anything, hand the singer his MVP award already.
The African Giant appeared on the American talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! He did so alongside Hollywood stars, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie who were promoting their latest film, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
Burna Boy, also getting set for the release of his African Giant album, was on-point and completely owned the night. He thrilled audience with the performance of “Anybody”, a single released barely a month ago.
Don Gorgon’s live band stood behind him as he crooned his verses to the delight of the audience. The singer’s signature approach and sound remained as the audience knew it to be.
Burna Boy rejected temptations to tweak his sounds for the audience; even though he was performing to an audience of mostly Caucasians who, prior to his set last night, were likely unfamiliar with his tune.
The high-point of his performance probably extended from the moment he stepped to the stage down till the end of his set. This year, Burna Boy can do no wrong. Does everyone agree?
