Terry Tha Rapman is gearing up for the release of a new project, so the veteran MC has let loose with a new joint titled ”Reality Rap”. On the new record, Terry goes hook-free with frequent collaborator Payper and Enigma, and they go hard for over 3 minutes. Their mantra is literally “If you no get bars, hide your face”, so it’s no surprise that ”Reality Rap” has that gutter, boom bap feel that hip-hop heads can get into.
But while all 3 MC’s were at their sharpest lyrically, they also took time to touch mildly on social issues, promoting the ‘One Nation’ agenda as well. It’s a nice confluence of consciousness and lyrical hip-hop. Let’s compare their most quotable lines:
Enigma
My calculation be telling me I need less friends /
Got me feeling they’re just here for the ends /
Or they just wanna see the end, like Dagrin said /
Terry tha Rapman
And they want me to tweet something positive /
Well positive ain’t where I live /
Boko Haram dey vex, dey bomb everywhere /
In the hood, G-boys dey vex, bomb internet /
Payper
Sometimes, I’m tired of Nigeria, wanna stay away /
But then again, it hurts me that the Igbos wanna break away /
I learned from history that we’ve been down this road before /
Think it twice homie, you don’t wanna go to war
