Rudeboy has enjoyed decent attention in the last few quarters. His song “Reason With Me” has been on the charts for a while now. Even though the song didn’t top the charts at any point, it’s visibility cannot be denied.
The singer follows up on the reasonable success of that song with the release of the new single, “Audio Money”. The song is produced by Lord Sky.
Rudy’s music has had a linear direction in terms of subject matter, especially his last three works.
He has done a song about a woman who left her lover because the relationship was not promising financially. The singer used himself as the persona, cloaking its flawed storyline with a deep personal emotion many could relate to. He has also done a song about his enemies, which was also well-received.
Rudeboy knows what works and what didn’t. This understanding forms the basis of “Audio Money”, a song that’s both topical and jarring.
This jarring approach Rudeboy capitalises on is what will almost guarantee the success of the song. He is found again singing about one of the unspoken public sentiments — the fake lives of Instagram citizens.
The singer did not just broach over the topic. Everything he croons about in the ditty centres around people who want to live only to flex on the gram. Although, there’s an apparent reproach for people who also admire the fake lives of these people.
Rudeboy then cautions that when Instagram users do giveaways, they are not worthy of being emulated. Instead, it’s just fake show: all na “audio money” because their account isn’t balling the way they make it look.
“Everybody rich for Instagram, poor man no dey for Instagram, dem call me like say na me start am, living fake life with cheap data,” Rudy sings on “Audio Money”.
