Happy birthday in arrears to Emma Nyra.
The singer obviously doesn’t mind the negative connotations of the “Lady of the Water” moniker she’s embraced. I’m sure there’s a positive slant somewhere there, what I’m not so sure of is whether the superstitious side of Nigerians wants to hear it. What they might want to hear more is the music and finally, they’ll be able to.

The singer’s debut project will be out in a few weeks, the artwork is already out though and plays perfectly into the Lady of the Water theme. The singer strikes a regal pose as she was photographed by Ugochi Ikechuckwu against the backdrop of crashing waves and huge beach rocks . She was styled by Tobenna of Harvella Styles and Duks Art is credited with the art direction.
In preparation for the EP, she’s released a new single “Work Hard” (listen above). The single itself is just alright. It doesn’t have the instant replay value of “For my matter” but it does keep to the theme of the EP which, I assume, is to explore the dichotomy between love and money. Emma’s management has decided to put out one track off the EP every Monday until the project is released, starting with this one produced by Giggz.
Here’s to hoping next Monday’s edition will be a step up.
