Burna Boy didn’t win the Grammys. But he didn’t lose either.

The singer was nominated for the “Best World Music” category alongside Natalie Joachim, Altin Gün, Bokanté and Angelique Kidjo (who emerged as the winner).

Angelique Kidjo dedicated her fourth Grammy win to Burna Boy, saying he’s one of the young musicians taking African music forward.

The Beninese legend also featured on the Nigerian’s Grammy-nominated album, African Giant. However, it was her own album, Celia, that won the award.

“Four years ago on this stage, I was telling you that the new generation of artistes coming from Africa are gonna take you by storm and this is for Burna Boy,” Kidjo said during her acceptance speech.

“Burna Boy is among the young artistes from Africa that is changing the way our continent is perceived and the way African music has been the bedrock of every music.”

This is the beginning of bigger things for the African Giant.
