If there are any kids on the internet, there’s no need to look away, your parents won’t mind you reading this, I promise.

Today, July 6 is Sallah day – Eid Mubarak to our very own Maryam and all our Muslim friends. Interestingly, in a twisted coincidence,  one of the holiest days of the year is also one of the naughtiest – today is National Kissing Day as well!

The day is barely observed in Nigeria to be honest but what does it mean to “observe” National Kissing day anyway? A kiss could mean different things to different people – a first kiss, a formal kiss, a kiss goodbye – it doesn’t always have to be the type you change the channel to avoid when you’re watching a movie with your parent.

However, on his umpteenth single “No Kissing Baby”, that’s exactly the kind of kiss that Voice Nigeria judge Patoranking was referring to – the type that lovers share after a tiff.

No other girl makes me act well /
Two of us like pot and kettle /
I just can’t tell /
Why we fight and wrestle /

The Alubarika singer seems to be discouraging any form of intimacy before you and your significant other resolve your issues but his stance begs the question – what if you haven’t resolved your issues as at this night, of all nights? Still no kissing, baby?

The bouncy single was produced by GospelOnDaBeatz and released a few days ago, so it hasn’t made its way to the Play Data singles charts just yet but given the dance hall star’s hit streak, it’s only a matter of time before that happens.

Meanwhile, the video has already racked up 600k plus YouTube views.  The clip was directed  by Daps and contains a number of references to bygone eras, from the Urkel-like dungarees with one hand left to dangle, to fat, gold rope chains reminiscent of early 90’s hip-hop and a classic Mercedes Benz 250 from 1960 something. A healthy-looking Sarkodie is featured on the track and his presence only enhances the song’s hit potential. “No Kissing Baby” is a hit any day of the week, just not today. Please exercise your lips, show someone that you care.

Patoranking’s long-awaited debut album God Over Everything is out in 26 days but if you’re arithmetically challenged, then that’s August 1.
