“Timewasters are time wasters and we have to move on. That’s all I have to say.” — Barry Jhay, 2019
The Nigerian music industry is one kind. This is a fact many people know. Fast-rising artist, Barry Jhay has claimed he registered Kizz Daniel’s label, Flyboy Inc by himself.
The youngster made the claim in a recent radio interview with Do2un on Cool 96.9FM.
Barry Jhay revealed that he had to register the label when he found out that his contract wasn’t legal. Because the label wasn’t registered, the contract between the two parties was null and void.
I signed a contract with Flyboy but it was illegal,” Barry Jhay claimed in the interview.
“Flyboy was not registered. I registered Flyboy… that’s one thing they don’t know. They gave me an illegal contract, I signed, and when I got to know, I almost sold… don’t let me call it out on radio… but it’s the way though. I noticed the label was not registered and I registered with my own money. So I registered Flyboy.”
The “Melanin” singer said he wouldn’t have found out about the deal if he didn’t have knowledge of the industry. He hinted that he hired a lawyer to help him unearth the validity of the deal.
“I was born into this game, so I know every tit and tat about this game… they’re some people called entertainment lawyers, they know what to do when they need to do it. My father was a lawyer, so I know how to go deep if I want to go deep.”
Barry Jhay went further to describe his time with the label as a waste. He said he never released a song while he was at the label because the executive, Kizz Daniel lacked the willingness to push him.
