Meet Mo Adeniran, the 21-Year Old Singer Who Won Voice UK

After months of battling and giving fantastic performances to the judges and the audience, UK-born Nigerian singer, Mo Adeniran emerged as the winner of The Voice UK 2017. Mo beat out contestants Michelle John, Jamie Miller and runners-up Into The Ark.

The 21-year-old singer battled to find his voice on the popular TV show after losing a close friend to a drug overdose. But at last night’s live finale, he put that all behind him and put on a spectacle for the The Voice judges with his rendition of “Iron Sky”.

Mo’s performance had all four judges excited. Jennifer Hudson, his mentor, was particularly overcome with emotions and burst into tears. Mo was speechless too after his victory was announced but still managed to thank her and everyone who supported from home.

According to him:

Thank you everyone at home, I just want to say thank you to Jennifer and all the coaches. An amazing thank you to the most phenomenal person I have ever met, thank you Jennifer.

Mo has a tragic story. He was brought up in foster care in Warrington and lost his close pal in 2015 after he died from a drug overdose. The singer suffered another personal loss when another one of his friends, from the band Viola Beach, died in a car crash shortly after.

The aspiring singer worked as a hotel worker before the show, running tedious night shifts. He came to The Voice with best friend Max Vickers after producers scouted him out for the show.

Max could only made it through to the semis while his friend has the opportunity of a lifetime. Mo also won a life-changing record deal with Polydor Records and the company immediately took to Twitter to congratulate him.
